Over the years, Y Shed has been used for storage, a working garage, and even an undertakers. Its history is both rich and varied. But for many years it has been derelict and empty. Now, championed by charitable housing association Grŵp Cynefin, and Meliden Residents’ Action Group, the future for Y Shed is very different.
This forgotten building is being transformed into a vibrant community and tourist hub with café, shop, and history displays, a place where walkers can stop for refreshments, families can hire bikes and go off exploring, or friends can meet for lunch. The history exhibition will showcase the village and its stories to new generations, shining a light on the life of Meliden residents through the years. Offering creative working spaces for local businesses and artisans, Y Shed will also help budding entrepreneurs and artists develop their businesses from unique, glass-fronted spaces looking out over an inspiring coastal setting.
